Emotional Dysregulation Treatment for Teens in North Carolina
Lumen provides specialized support for teens struggling with emotional dysregulation, including intense emotions, frequent emotional outbursts, difficulty calming down, impulsive reactions, shutting down, and feeling easily overwhelmed.
Our Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program serves teens ages 11–17, with consideration for 18-year-olds who are still enrolled in high school.
Our Approach
Our approach focuses on understanding what is driving intense emotional reactions, identifying triggers and patterns, and helping teens develop practical skills to manage difficult emotions more effectively.
Treatment focuses on strengthening emotional regulation, distress tolerance, healthy coping, and communication skills while giving teens an active voice in their care and supporting the entire family throughout the process.
